Golden Spike National Historical Site

We did some sight-seeing, and visited the Golden Spike National Historical area. The replica locomotives are run out under their  own steam each day. Was fun watching real steam locomotives, and visiting with the crews.

Ogden, Utah

Ogden, Utah, September 13, 2014. Visiting family, we attended a farmer's market on the main street of Ogden. Lovely fruit, and an interesting walk through town.

Teddy Bear Town

We visited the Black Hills area of South Dakota. During our visit, we saw our donated bear at Teddy Bear Town, Hill City, South Dakota. He sits in a place of honor near the entrance.

Greenland Fjords

In July/August, we took a cruise through the northern climes. In particular, we saw Iceland, Greenland, etc. This photo was taken as we cruised through some major fjords on the southern tip of Greenland. The scenery was awesome.

Walnut Woods State Park

In Des Moines, visiting family. This state park is very pretty. We took a hike along the river.

Hollister, Missouri

We spent a week in the Branson, Missouri, area. While visiting the College of the Ozarks, we saw some Ford Model T enthusiasts driving their vintage autos around. Here are some of those beautifully restored cars.

Amarillo, Texas, Stockyards Cafe

We had heard about this place, so gave it a try. Yes, the best chicken fried steak in the known universe. The lunch included steakhouse soup, and dessert! The people were really nice and happy to have us tourists there.

Goosenecks State Park, Utah

We spent some time boondocking in Goosenecks. This is near Mexican Hat, Utah, and allows camping on the edge of a deep canyon (San Juan River). Lots better than the Grand Canyon.

Monument Valley

We stayed for a few days at Goosenecks State Park, Utah. This park is near Mexican Hat, Utah. We drove through Monument Valley on our way, where this photo was taken.

Lunar Eclipse from Prescott, Arizona

We spent a week getting away from the desert heat. Prescott, Arizona is perfect for that, as it is higher elevation. While we enjoyed the area, there was a lunar eclipse. We stayed up late into the night to get some photos.

Las Vegas

We visited Las Vegas to be with some family who were there on business. Had some fun checking out the "new" Strip, which we had not seen in many decades. The newer casino/hotels, such as New York, New York, were eye-popping.

Sunset in Quartzsite, Arizona. We stayed out in the BLM area again this January.

Railroad Along the Rio Grande

As we drove out of the Gulf area, we went alongside the Rio Grande. There are also major rail lines along that river, so we got to see some trains pass. This was taken near Sanderson, Texas.
