Folkstone, Georgia

We were told that many, many trains passed the small town of Folkstone, Georgia. We dropped in for a day, but sadly only saw a few trains, and were only able to photograph one freight. There are other train-spotting locations in this area of the country, and we may try again in the future.

Kalamazoo, Michigan, Air Museum

Spent a day here. This is a wonderful air museum. They have an additional hangar with planes being restored, as well as engine displays.

Bear Flag

We made a quick visit to the bear factory in Chelsea, Michigan. They have this nice flag made up entirely of teddy bears. The display of historical bears is interesting, but we did not manage to have a tour of the factory.

E8 Locomotive

Taken at the New York Central museum in Elkhart, Indiana. It is an excellent museum, and along with this EMD E8 loco, there is a wonderful steamer and a GG1 electric.

The displays inside the museum are excellent.

We had a great meal at Texas Smoke BBQ along Route 15 in New Jersey. They rival the BBQ in Texas.

Had the hot dogs at Dickie Dees in Newark, New Jersey. Quite an experience.

They loaded the top of the "sandwich" with twice-fried potatoes. Wonderful. Also, not on the diet.

We had lunch, of course, at Cluck U. This one was located in Randolph, New Jersey.

Sandi had the hot, hot wings. I had the chicken sandwich. We split the onion rings.

Tom Abernethy (W3TOM) gave an excellent talk at the Escapees rally on the subject of using amateur radio (HAM) in an RV environment.

This all took place while we were at the Escapees rally in Gillette, Wyoming.

We are staying in Gillette, Wyoming (again) for the Escapees rally.

This is a park near the Camplex where the event was taking place. This huge ore hauler is part of a static display of equipment used in the mineral extraction industry here.

We were sitting around our motorhome in Gillette, Wyoming during the FMCA rally, enjoying an adult beverage.

This was one of the better days, we had some heavy weather during our visit.

During our visit to the Rapid City area, we have had some heavy weather. The hailstones were the size of mothballs this time.

Then there was enough rain to make a lake in the RV park.

The Branding Iron in Thompson, Iowa serves absolutely the best meat we have eaten in the US. Always worth a visit when we are in Forest City for the Winnebago rally.

We visited this little town to see their annual BBQ competition. The smell of wood and meat smoke was heady!

We spent the day with our dear friends the Powell's, at Saguaro National Park near Tucson. There were many interesting plants in the desert, some blooming. The vistas are wonderful.

The saguaro cacti are awesome. They were not blooming (yet), but we got pictures of some of the dead plants, which are also very impressive.

We already had solar installed in January, but now we are going to LEARN something about our electrical system. This image is from our installation of the Trimetric metering system. We should now be able to find out just how much capacity our battery bank has, how much charge is being received by the solar, and how much we are drawing after dark when boondocking.

We camped with an Escapees "Boomer" group at the Lost Dutchman State Park near Mesa, Arizona. The views were fantastic.

We got to geocache for the first time ever, and took a few side trips.

Rose Parade (not yet)
